¨If I had been warned that this could happen, I would not have gotten the injection!¨
My poor degenerating right ankle has reached the point where it´s nearly bone on bone. It was injured in 1980 in a car accident and I´ve lived with the limited range of motion and chronic pain since then. Nearly three decades.
Anyway, my doctor suggested that I take some cortisone injections to reduce the inflammation and the pain.
One week after getting that cortisone shot in my old, battered ankle, I had to be taken to the ER. I was running a high temperature and my ankle was swollen and so painful that I couldnt put any weight on it.
I was attended to by 2 fine doctors, one of them a joint specialist. They confirmed that I was suffering from inflammation of my ankle, which I understood then it was one of the side effects of the cortisone injection.
